Special Education

Welcome to Johnson Elementary School Special Education Services

At Johnson Elementary School, we are committed to providing inclusive, student-centered supports that help every child access learning, build independence, and experience success within our school community. We believe all students can grow and thrive when provided with high-quality instruction, collaborative support systems, and strong partnerships between school and home.

Our Special Education Team works collaboratively with classroom teachers, related service providers, families, and outside agencies to ensure students receive individualized supports that meet their academic, social-emotional, behavioral, communication, and developmental needs. Services are provided in accordance with each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) and are designed to support students in the least restrictive environment whenever appropriate.

Johnson School utilizes a collaborative Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) approach that emphasizes:

  • early intervention,
  • inclusion,
  • proactive problem solving,
  • positive behavioral supports,
  • and strong communication with families.

We value the importance of building trusting relationships with students and families and strive to create a safe, supportive, and respectful learning environment for all learners.
